Christmas Eve 2011

Tonight I hosted my first Christmas Eve dinner.

It was last minute, but thankfully my sis Kristen saved my buns. She loaned me the chargers, dishes and table cloth.

The white center bowl is actually repurposed! I found it in the garage, it belonged to my Grandma. It was an unattractive color of cream with gold. I repainted it white this morning and am so incredibly happy with how it turned out. I love the detail on the outside of it. I will get so much use out of it.

I dropped some cute little ball ornaments from the Dollar Tree in and topped it with some cranberry sprigs and cinnamon scented pine cones. I got the cute center place mat at Walmart.

My mom, Ron, Derek and Grandma came over and enjoyed my now famous my taco soup with fresh wheat rolls. We drank some champagne and had a wonderful visit.

Our tradition has always been to do Christmas on Christmas in my mom’s family, so after dinner it was present time!

Enjoy the Christmas season, my readers!

I won!!

Well, this has been a rough week, physically and emotionally. I am so behind on everything. When I logged on tonight to check my email, I was greeted with a little email from Susan at Between Naps on the Porch to tell me I needed to look at the post I just linked you to.

I won a dish set from Noritake China! I am so excited.

Thank you, Susan for having the contest!

Merry Early Christmas, everyone!

Make your own hurricane lamps from the dollar store!

I know, I know! A lot of bloggers have done this all ready, but I had to jump on the DIY train. It’s so easy, affordable and they look great!

I bought two tall glass cylinders and two candlestick holders at the dollar tree. I picked out three Christmas  balls I liked to stick in each one.

I used super glue to fasten the candlestick holders to the bottom of the cylinders. (Yes, I did glue my fingers together…again.) I dropped my lovely Christmas balls in and ta-da!

Total cost? $4 each! Cheap and you can use these all year. I actually plan to make a couple of more, I was so happy with how they turned out!

Building my new laundry room!

Happy Wednesday, everyone! How are we all doing?

I am doing good. Still a little under the weather but feeling better every day. A little shocked that my birthday is in 6 days! It seems like it comes too fast every year.

My garage is coming along wonderfully! I am so excited. My cousin Darin has been doing a great job and his daughter Amanda has been a huge help. My Uncle Ron has been here to oversee and also do the electrical. Thank you, Uncle Ron!

My laundry room is going to be huge. I can’t wait for it to be done. I am going to paint it the same cheerful green as my office, since I have a can of paint left over. Well, actually Darin will be painting it. But you get my drift.

I have seen so many cute signs made with Cricuts and I plan to do a black laundry one. I can’t wait to decorate it. If I only had a new washer to match my new drier I would be in laundry room heaven.

I will share with you more before and after pictures soon, but I thought you might like a peek at what is going on!
